Immunotherapy has shown enormous potential for cancer treatment and is currently the focus of world-wide interest at the preclinical and clinical level. However, many questions remain open, in particular on the low response rate in several cancer types. Thus, the Department of Preclinical Imaging and Radiopharmacy (Werner Siemens Imaging Center) of the University Hospital Tübingen (Germany), in collaboration with the Molecular Imaging Program at Stanford, Stanford University (USA), is currently looking for a
Post-Doctoral Fellow (f/m/d)
with a focus in oncology and expertise in in vivo imaging sciences (MRI, PET, hybrid PET/MRI, hyperpolarized MRSI).
Focusing on the role of macrophages during immunotherapy, the post-doctoral fellow will investigate the detection and activation of those immune cells through state of the art non-invasive in vivo multimodal imaging. The position is initially limited for 18 month, with possibility for further extension and will include a mandatory 6-month stay at Stanford University (USA).
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated scientist, who is eager to work and evolve in a highly interdisciplinary environment with chemists, biologists, physicists, and physicians. The potential candidate is required to have an in-depth knowledge in oncology, sanctioned by a PhD degree in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, pharmaceutical sciences or related fields along with the corresponding technical skills. Experience and a solid understanding of in vivo imaging modalities, in particular MRI is mandatory.
The ideal candidate has the necessary skills to develop and implement comprehensive experimental protocols, the desire to excel in imaging sciences and a drive to communicate scientific results in an international environment. Experience with developing small animal models is preferred.
We offer remuneration in accordance with TV-L (collective wage agreement for the Public Service of the German Federal States) in addition to all the customary benefits granted to employees working in Public Services. Severely handicapped persons with equal qualifications are given preferential consideration. The University of Tübingen is anxious to increase its quota of female scientific staff, and therefore emphatically requests women to apply for this position. The Administration of the University Hospital is responsible for all employment matters. Personnel appointments will be made pursuant to the fundamental stipulations of the legal statutes for universities in Germany. Interview expenses are not covered.
