The Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Urban Planning of Brandenburg University of Technology (BTU) Cottbus–Senftenberg, invites applications for a

 

PROFESSORSHIP HERITAGE CONSERVATION
(DENKMALPFLEGE) (W3)

commencing at the earliest opportunity.

The professor is expected to represent the field Heritage Conservation in all its aspects. She or he should possess a wealth of experience in research on places of cultural significance in various countries and epochs as well as in appropriate interventions in such places. She or he should have a network of international contacts and contribute actively to the international discourse on Heritage.

Teaching focusses on the international master programs »World Heritage Studies« und »Heritage Conservation and Site Management« (taught in English) as well as »Building and Conservation«, Architecture and Urban and Regional Planning (taught in German). It also

comprises training of doctoral candidates. The professor is expected to contribute actively to the DFG-funded Research Training Group on »Cultural and Technological Significance of Historic Buildings« and to BTU’s Graduate Research School.

Furthermore the professor is expected to collaborate closely with the departments of History of Architecture, Construction History, History of Art and Cultural Management as well as the departments of Architectural Design in Historic Context and of Urban Planning, both in the area of teaching in theory and practice and in the area of basic research. It is also desirable that the professor should establish close collaboration with non-university research institutions and expert bodies such as ICOMOS.

Classes will be taught both in English and in German. We expect experience in acquiring third-party funding and in conducting third-party funded research projects. Research projects should be relevant for DFG (German Research Foundation) funding. Applicants should demonstrate an outstanding doctorate with a focus on the profile. In addition a scientific qualification in the form of habilitation-equivalent achievements is expected.

Please refer to §§ 41 paragraph 1 No 1 – 4a and 43 BbgHG for prerequisites and conditions of employment. Experience in the acquisition and realization of third-party funded projects is expected. Fields of research should be relevant for the DFG (German Research Foundation) or similar international research funding organizations. Lectures are primarily to be held in German, fluency in English is expected.
