The Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Urban Planning of Brandenburg University of Technology (BTU) Cottbus–Senftenberg, invites applications for a

PROFESSORSHIPHISTORY OF ARCHITECTURE
(BAUGESCHICHTE) (W3)

commencing at the earliest opportunity.

We are seeking applicants engaged in the History of Architecture in the entire range from the early high civilizations to the contemporary. The candidate will have experience in carrying out and conducting major research projects in archaeological or historical building research in an international and interdisciplinary context. One research focus must be in the area of Building Archaeology (Bauforschung).

The post holder will teach the compulsory courses History of Architecture and Survey within the curricula at the Faculty, in particular »Architecture« and »Urban Planning«, as well as in the international master programmes »World Heritage Studies« and »Heritage Conservation and Site Management«. The post holder will also be expected to be engaged in the Research Training Group 1913 »Cultural and Technological Significance of Historic Buildings«.

In the activity of general research, as well as in the teaching activity, which is theoretically founded and oriented to practical application, we expect the successful candidate to closely collaborate with the areas of Conservation, Construction History, and Cultural Management. Further, close collaboration also with national and international university and non-university research organizations is explicitly welcome.

Teaching is required also in English language. Candidates are expected to have own experiences in the acquisition of research grants and in carrying out own research projects. The subjects of research should be relevant for funding by the DFG or by comparable international research funding institutions.

Applicants must have a University degree in Architecture, Urban Planning, or in a comparable area, and must also have a qualified doctoral degree in the area of archaeological or historical building research. Further, candidates must possess a scientific qualification equivalent to habilitation.

Please refer to §§ 41 paragraph 1 No 1 – 4a and 43 BbgHG for prerequisites and conditions of employment. Experience in the acquisition and realization of third-party funded projects is expected. Fields of research should be relevant for the DFG (German Research Foundation) or similar international research funding organizations. Lectures are primarily to be held in German, fluency in English is expected.
