We are offering a 1+2 years postdoctoral research contract to work in a multidisciplinary research project that combines behavioural neuroscience with neuroengineering, and that has been awarded under a FET-Open EU program. The project is lead by Dr. Mercè Masana, an Assistant Professor who is the PI together with Professor Jordi Alberch in the research group “Neuronal Plasticity and neurodegenerative disease” (Biomedical Sciences Department, Institute of Neuroscience, University of Barcelona;
The contracted person will be involved in the development of novel non-invasive light-induced in vivo stimulation and monitoring techniques with the aim to modulate specific brain circuits to ameliorate motor and cognitive symptoms in neurodegenerative disorders (Huntington’s and Alzheimer’s Disease).

NEUROPA Postdoctoral position

REQUIRED EDUCATION LEVELNeurosciences: PhD or equivalent
REQUIRED LANGUAGESENGLISH: Excellent
We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with a PhD in Neuroscience or similar and with high interest or experience in mouse models, brain circuits, stereotaxic surgery and mice behavior. The candidate should be eager to design and conduct independent experimental research in rodents, involving drugs and AAV treatments, brain surgeries, optogenetics and behavior and to collaborate with photonics and bioengineering researchers. Knowledge on Matlab, Phyton or similar is desired. An excellent level of English is also required.
As a postdoctoral researcher we aim for a motivated person, proactive and flexible and with ability to work in a team. Part of the work will involve support in administrative tasks related to the project, such as reports.
