IMDEA Materials Institute seeks a PhD Student (Research assistant) to work on a project focused on the development and applications of hybrid data-driven-experimental approaches for advanced composite materials design. The general aim of the project is to develop the next generation polymer nanocomposites with improved mechanical and fire-safety properties in the context of their applications in energy and transport. The research will involve synthesis and characterization of various nanocomposite materials as well as applications of statistical machine learning and optimization techniques to guide the experimental work towards better designs at lower R&D costs.
The exact scope of the to-be-pursuit project will be determined on the basis of current needs as well as the previous experience, skills and interests of the successful candidate.
