Offer Description

The research moves on two converging themes related to the urban history of Rome from ancient to contemporary times: a defined topographical context (the area of the ancient Velia hill: Grandi Scavi Sapienza) and a cross-cutting theme (the relationship between history and memory in the construction and semantization of the urban landscape: PRIN. Space and Memory. How places and monuments of memory built social and cultural identity in the first-millennium BCE Italy) in order to measure the potential offered for this purpose by the available sources and to elaborate a tool for the reconstruction and interpretation of the ancient landscape.Ultimately, the research aims at the acquisition and textual and cartographic elaboration of documentary data and literary, epigraphic, iconographic and archaeological sources for the reconstruction of the landscapes and histories of important contexts of ancient Rome.
