We are looking for a Research Assistant to join the group of Dr. Ganna PANASYUK in the Institute Necker Enfants Malades at INSERM U1151, Paris, France. We are a young, dynamic, international team with a great hunger for discovery (www.panasyuklab.fr)! We use a combination of cell biology, metabolomic, gene expression approaches and mouse genetics to address the role of nutrient signalling dynamics in whole body metabolic balance. Your role will be to take part in the research projects aiming to discover the role of phosphoinositide-3-kinase (PI3K) signalling in oscillating metabolic responses. You will perform expression and metabolomic studies, generate novel reporter cell lines using viral vectors to investigate signalling and metabolic dynamics in cells and in mouse animal models. You will employ various techniques (molecular cloning, transcript and protein expression, imaging, work with primary and established cell lines, biochemistry assays) in order to analyse the metabolic responses in conditions of wild type and pharmacologically or genetically modified PI3K signalling. You will also share responsibility for general laboratory management, including administration of mouse and other lab resources, scheduling lab duties and ensuring the training of new group members in various techniques.
As our ideal candidate, you should hold an appropriate academic degree in molecular and/or cell biology and/or biochemistry. Expertise in molecular biology/biochemistry is essential. Familiarity with cell culture, viral vector handling, and approaches to study gene expression (Chip, Chip-Seq) is an advantage. The expertise in -omics (transcriptomics, metabolomics) data analyses (R, Python) will be a bonus. Previous experience with mouse models will be extremely valuable (a valid license for animal work is an advantage), but adequate training will be provided if necessary. Excellent working knowledge of English is required to integrate our team and succeed in this position.

The remuneration package will be based on qualifications and experience according to the INSERM salary grid. Note that this one-year fixed term contract is renewable for 3 years, depending on circumstances at the time of the review.
