Full Professorship (m/f/d) for Turkic Literatures
(Salary Level W2)
beginning on April 1st, 2020.
We are looking for a scholar with an excellent thesis that marks a highly relevant contribution to the field.

Candidates have to be able to represent the discipline in its full breadth both in research and teaching. In addition to the doctoral degree, candidates must have an outstanding scientific and didactic record. A documented research expertise in Turkish literature is compulsory. We expect the candidate to be willing to contribute to the development of a literature focus in Turcology and to participate in a constant and fruitful exchange among the modern philological disciplines represented in Mainz as well as the research clusters of the university. Candidates must be ready to collaborate in the Turcology BA and MA programmes and to contribute to other study programs within the Faculty and beyond. An excellent proficiency in Turkish is a requirement. Candidates are furthermore expected to possess a profound command in a pre-modern Turkic variety such as Ottoman Turkish or Chaghatay. Candidates must be capable of teaching in English. Sufficient proficiency in German must be acquired within two years.
In addition to the general employment requirements, candidates must meet the recruitment requirements stipulated in § 49 of the Rhineland-Palatinate Higher Education Act (Hochschulgesetz Rheinland-Pfalz).
