Offer Description

Studentship for scientific initiation to take part in the project Music paper and handwriting studies in Portugal (18th and 19th centuries): the case study of the collection of the Count of Redondo (MARCMUS) (EXPL/ART-PER/0749/2021).

The project MARCMUS will solely take place in Portugal (Lisbon).

The initiation student will assist the research team in carrying out the tasks performed during the term of the project, with particular emphasis on the process of photographing watermarks/calligraphies, in the treatment and cataloguing of these images, and in the rastrology analysis; she/he will also actively participate in other activities of CESEM.

 

Duration:

The duration of the studentship for scientific initiation is 7 months and is non-renewable. The expected starting date is 1st March 2023.

 

Benefits:

The research fellowship corresponds to €486.12 monthly, according to the table of scholarships awarded directly by the FCT, I.P. in Portugal. Added to this amount is the voluntary social insurance corresponding to the first category, if the candidate so chooses, as well as a personal accident insurance.

 

How to apply:

The candidate must send an application letter, including identification and contact details, accompanied by the following: Curriculum Vitae, proof of enrollment in a Musicology degree (Licentiate or Masters) or equivalent, declaration by the candidate that she/he does not exceed, with the conclusion of the studentship contract in question, an accumulated period of one year in this type of scholarship, followed or interpolated, and has not already been a beneficiary of any other research scholarship directly or indirectly financed by the FCT and, optionally, other supporting documents deemed relevant.

Admission requirements:

Enrollment in a Musicology degree (Licentiate or Masters) or equivalent OR Enrollment in a History degree (Licentiate or Masters).

 

Preferential requirements:

Second year of the degree completed at the time the studentship starts, command of written English and IT skills.

Selection process

Selection method:

The selection methods will be the following: a) curriculum evaluation, on a grading scale from 0 to 10, with weighting of the academic background (0-5 points) and the preferential requirements (0-5 points); b) Interview (optional, carried out, if necessary, by decision of the jury, to all admitted candidates). If needed, candidates will be notified of the respective date by email.

If the interview takes place, the weighting will be 50% for the selection method (a) and 50% for the selection method (b).

 

The final results, in the form of a list ordered according to the points obtained by each candidate, will be published on the CESEM website (http://cesem.fcsh.unl.pt), and the successful candidate will be notified by e-mail.
