The Department of Management, Technology, and Economics invites applications for a Post-doc.

Project background

The position is part of the eDemocracy & Digital Economic Policy program within the ETH+ initiative on Digital Transformation & Society.

\n

\n

Job description

\n

\n

The successful applicant is expected to work on issues related to the regulation of digital platforms and taxation of their activities. Potential topics include taxation of digital products, two-sided markets and network goods, net neutrality, privacy and public policy, value creation and taxation of corporate profits in the digital economy, the effect of the digital economy on tax competition, artificial intelligence and fiscal systems.

The work might be based on theoretical modelling and/or empirical analysis. The research will ideally combine insights from economics and e.g. computer science.

Your profile

\n

\n

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Economics or in Computer Science with a strong economic basis (or should be near completion of the dissertation) and should have shown interest in the topics of the research program. The preferred candidate has demonstrated her or his potential to conduct high-quality research, ideally by having some papers under revision or even accepted for publication in refereed international journals. The successful applicant is expected to independently conduct academic and policy-relevant research and also to contribute to ongoing research projects of the group. Excellent command of English is required. ETH Zurich offers internationally competitive working conditions. Living conditions in Zurich are excellent (Zurich is consistently ranked as one of the world`s premier cities in terms of living standards). The expected starting date is autumn 2019 or later.
