The university of the Aegean announces two (2) open research positions for refugees scientists of various disciplines (mathematics, environmental science, engineering, informatics). The work location is at the University of the Aegean premises in Mytilene, Lesvos island (Greece) and the duration of each position is three (3) months. Each fellow will be assigned a supervisor, which will guide and assist the fellow during its hosting period (research plan, advising on regulations, services and facilities, training needs). According to the refugees needs free courses will be offered in various subjects (descriptive statistics, programming etc).

Skills/Qualifications
The refugee’s fluxes in the Mediterranean area directed towards Greece have shown high numbers particularly from August 2015. It is estimated that a high number of refugees scientists experience a research gap in their career, found themselves in various camps and waiting for the long lasting asylum procedures.
The university of the Aegean, in the framework of the HORIZON project SCIREA-Science for highly skilled refugee’s scientists, announces 2 open fellowships positions (2 fellowships of 3 months duration each) for refugee’s scientists, which can conduct research in its premises.
The refugee’s scientists must have a PhD or at least a master degree in informatic, mathematic, environment, marine science, engineering or any related degree in earth sciences. Due to time restriction until the completion of the project it is worthy if the candidate have or can get very soon a Greek tax number.
The hosting period will give the refugees the experience of a European research and training institute. Getting contacts with the academic and research community they strengthen in that way potential future collaboration.
After the selection the refugees will spend 3 months in a university laboratory in Mytilene (Lesbos) working in a research subject such as statistics, modelling etc. Each fellow will be assigned a supervisor, which will guide and assist the fellow during its hosting period (research plan, advising on regulations, services and facilities, training needs).
