One post-doctoral contract is available at the group of Dr. Lluís Blancafort (Institute of Computational Chemistry and Catalysis, University of Girona, Spain), for the computational study of Gd containing photosensitisers. The positions involve strong collaboration with synthetic chemistry, photochemistry and photobiology groups and are funded by the European FET-OPEN project FRINGE (reference 828922 awarded in the H2020-FETOPEN-2018-2020 call of the Horizon 2020 program, financed by the European Commission).

FRINGE (Fluorescence and Reactive oxygen Intermediates by Neutron Generated electronic Excitation as a foundation for radically new cancer therapies) proposes a new hybrid technology for cancer treatment combining chemical agents and neutrons for the generation of reactive oxygen species which will kill the tumor cells.

FRINGE has a highly interdisciplinary team comprising nuclear physicists, synthetic chemists, quantum chemists, photochemists, photobiologists, medical physicists and radio-oncologists joining forces to lay the foundations for a novel, curative cancer therapy.

Interested applicants please send a CV, interest letter and the name of two reference persons to lluis.blancafort@udg.edu. Use the same address for any inquiries.

Candidates should have a PhD degree in Theoretical or Computational Chemistry or a related field.
