Teaching subjects related to sheep, goat, and fur animal production, and performing teaching-related development activities; supervising Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD students; reviewing research papers. Developing international collaborative research partnerships and engaging in joint research projects. Performing research activities (incl. animal experiments) undertaken in the area of animal nutrition. Seeking funding for research. Analysing and interpreting research findings; writing up research work for publication in peer-reviewed international scientific journals; presenting at seminars, conferences, and other relevant events. Developing and popularising the field of animal nutrition.

Workload: teaching – 70%; research – 25%; administrative duties – 5%.

Eligibility criteria

The candidate who collects more than a half of the votes of the Institutes Council members participating in the secret ballot shall be deemed elected. 

 

Selection process

To participate in the competition, candidates are required to submit the following documents to the Academic Secretary (Fr. R. Kreutzwaldi 1, 51006 TARTU) no later than August 26, 2019.

•          an application to the Rector;

•          CV (curriculum vitae) and a structured list of scientific publications of recent ten years, in the Estonian Research Information System (ETIS) standard format (up to ten significant publications from the earlier periood may be included at will); information on academic work done within five recent years shall be enclosed with the CV;

•          a copy of the document certifying education and/or academic degree;

•          other relevant materials at the discretion of the applicant;

Skills/Qualifications

At least five years of teaching and research experience in the area of animal nutrition, sheep and goat production, and fur animal production at an academic setting;

Up-to-date knowledge of local/national and international legislation and regulations concerning sheep, goat, and fur animal production;

Experience in supervising graduate students;

Up-to-date knowledge of teaching aids and methodologies;

Knowledge and skills necessary for teaching and research;

Up-to-date knowledge of the methodologies in areas related to the field of research;

High level of written and spoken Estonian and English;

Computer skills: word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software; data processing software packages.

Specific Requirements

PhD or equivalent in the field of animal sciences.

High level of written and spoken Estonian and English.
