OFFER DESCRIPTION

Independent Ethics Advisor position for 40 months is available in University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, in the framework of Marie Skłodowska-Curie MSCA-ITN-ETN action BORGES (Biosensing with organic electronics).

A public selective procedure, for curriculum vitae and eventual interview, is announced for the assignment of a coordinated and continuous collaboration assignment or collaboration for free professional activity inherent to the carrying out of activities of particular and specific relevance as Independent Ethics Advisor all within the research project H2020-MSCA-ITN-2018 BORGES "Biosensing with Organic Electronics", under the responsibility of Dr. Carlo Augusto Bortolotti, 

The BORGES Project. The project aim is to train the next generation of R&D innovators in organic bioelectronics, with the aim of developing organic biosensors up to demonstration in an end-user significant context. Organic Bioelectronics is a fast-rising interdisciplinary field encompassing organic electronic devices that exhibit mixed electronic and ionic conductivity. These devices represent a truly unique communication bridge across the technology gap existing between the living systems and digital electronics. Biosensing is one of the most scientifically and industrially promising application of organic (bio)electronics. BORGES is will form young professionals that will be able to operate into this highly interdisciplinary field, acquiring expertise in designing, developing and implementing highly reliable organic bioelectronic sensors. The professional profile, as Independent Ethics Advisor, will be appointed to monitor the ethical aspects involved in the project as well as their management in the operational phase to ensure that the research activities of the Project are managed in full compliance with the ethics principles and requirements. The professionals will therefore have to advise the members of the consortium on the ethical issues specifically identified and detailed in the Ethics Summary Report and in the Grant Agreement as well as on any further ethical questions that may arise during the work and for the whole duration of the project.

The ethical requirements that the project must comply with - on which the Ethics Advisor will be asked to give advise - are included as deliverables in Work Package 9 and refer, among others, to the following topics:

- use of biological samples already stored in biobanks, to which the project beneficiaries have access;

- protection of personal data during sample collection and recruitment of subjects for new studies by project beneficiaries, drafting of protocols for accidental investigations and informed consent models;

- use of nanoscale materials and analysis of food toxins in relation to environmental and safety regulations.

The professional profile will also be required to document his / her activity by drafting two periodic reports to be submitted as deliverables at the end of each reporting period (respectively set at month 24 and 48 of the project) and to participate to two project meetings (immediately before the reporting periods above) to contribute to the drafting of the relative reports.

Skills/Qualifications

Possession of previous experience as an Ethics Advisor in international research projects as well as the possible participation and involvement in research ethics committees will be considered a preferential element in the profile evaluation.

Specific Requirements

The professionist must be in possession of specific and proven expertise in the field of Ethics and Bioethics and professional experience as an Ethics Advisor.
