We are seeking a post-doctoral researcher to become part of the Enzyme Catalysis and Molecular Engineering group at the Laboratory of Engineering of Biological Systems and Processes (http://www.lisbp.fr/en/index.html), a leading industrial biotechnology laboratory in France.

The LISBP covers a wide spectrum of multi-disciplinary research activities to create a continuum “from gene to process”, essential for successful biotechnological innovation. The lab hosts 300 persons, including 80 scientists, 50 engineers and technicians and 170 post-doctoral fellows, PhD students and contractual research engineers. The Enzyme Catalysis and Molecular engineering’ group hosts 70 persons in total, including several internationally renowned researchers, who focus their research both on enzyme discovery through functional metagenomics, structure/activity studies and protein engineering for white biotechnology and synthetic biology.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The postdoctoral position is opened in the frame of the project CultissimDrop, recently funded by Toulouse White Biotechnology (https://www.toulouse-white-biotechnology.com). CultissimDrop is a multidisciplinary project which combines the expertise of four partners in microbiomics, droplet microfluidics, microbiology and pathophysiology of the intestinal epithelium.

In this context, we offer a challenging job in an international environment focusing on research and innovation. We strive for academic excellence, collegial respect and freedom tempered by responsibility. The successful candidate will be in charge to develop a new ultra-high throughput screening strategy for culturomics, functional metagenomics, enzyme and strain engineering.

Candidates should have a PhD degree in Biochemistry, Microbiology or equivalent.

Overall a preferred applicant has a solid research experience and is highly motivated towards developing new technology and making scientific breakthroughs. The candidate should:

  • have a proven track record within the fields of bench microbiomics and/or enzymology, preferably targeted on carbohydrate enzymology
  • have an experience in molecular biology and bioinformatics
  • be a team player, interested in collaborating with the CultissimDrop partners for developing novel high-throughput screening approaches

CONDITIONS
