UHMob (Ultra-high Charge Carrier Mobility to Elucidate Transport Mechanisms in Molecular Semiconductors) is a multi-site European Training Network (ETN) aimed at enabling multidisciplinary and cross-sectoral training and research in the field of Organic Electronics. The mission of UHMob is to widen the career perspectives of Early-Stage Researchers (ESRs) by allowing them to obtain a PhD in a truly multidisciplinary and cross-sectional research environment. The intensive training program, that largely takes advantage of student exchange, is supported by recent scientific breakthroughs of UHMob partners to offer to ESRs the opportunity to carry research at the forefront of Science. Specifically, the scientific objective of UHMob is to gain a fundamental understanding of charge transport mechanisms in molecular semiconductors.

The activity proposed for the Early Stage Researchers is inserted in an international  collaboration for the exploitation of molecular semiconductors to contribute to elucidate charge transport mechanism, to explore new physical concepts, to create new perspectives of industrial developments, and to give a novel impetus to the maturing field of organic electronics.

UHMob offers you the opportunity to:

  • Work in an international atmosphere with teams with complementary expertise.
  • Perform secondments in other groups, i.e. spend a few months withinone of the involved organisation and gain insight on their specificexpertise.     
  • Collaborate with a pool of 15 early stage researchers hired by the project and be in direct contact with experimentalists to confront systematically theory versus experiment.

Eligibility criteria

  • To have obtained or to be about to obtain a Master’s degree (or a title at equivalent level) in chemistry. At the day of hiring, applicants must have been awarded a Master or equivalent degree.
  • To be in the first 4 years (full-time equivalent research experience) of their research careers.
  • Not to have been awarded a doctoral degree.
  • Not to have resided or carried out their main activity(work, studies, etc.) in Italy for more than 12 months in the 3 yearsimmediately before the recruitment date (Mobility Rule).
  • Applications must be written in English.

  • A talented highly motivated young chemist with a solid background in organic synthesis is actively searched. The candidate must have a sound knowledge of organic chemistry and physical chemistry. He/she must be open-minded, hard at work, able to work in team,  rigorous, and have strong laboratory skills.
  • The candidate should have a good knowledge and practice with modern techniques of quantum-chemistry or solid-state physics
