Who are we?
Culgi B.V. is a globally operating high-tech company based in the Leiden Bio Science Park that develops computational chemistry software. We offer our software in combination with services to clients, so they can develop innovative new chemical mixtures. We work closely with our customers to provide them a tailored Culgi solution.
What is the BORGES project?
The project aim is to train the next generation of R&D innovators in organic bioelectronics, with the aim of developing organic biosensors up to demonstration in an end-user significant context. Organic Bioelectronics is a fast-rising interdisciplinary field encompassing organic electronic devices that exhibit mixed electronic and ionic conductivity. These devices represent a truly unique communication bridge across the technology gap existing between the living systems and digital electronics. Biosensing is one of the most scientifically and industrially promising application of organic (bio)electronics. BORGES is will form young professionals that will be able to operate into this highly interdisciplinary field, acquiring expertise in designing, developing and implementing highly reliable organic bioelectronic sensors. Are you the person we desire?
You are an enthusiastic team player with a computational background in chemistry, biotech or life sciences. You have excellent organizational skills, a good sense for software programming in terms of design and implementation. We are looking for a self-supportive, multi-tasker who thrives on getting things done and picks up tasks proactively. You will work in a network training program funded by the European Union where you will have the possibility to perform part of the work at other partners in the network. Your goal will be to develop tools for data mining and develop user interfaces for medical devices and work on interface applications in the field of biosensors. You will be expected to present your work at conferences, write scientific papers and finally write a dissertation leading to a PhD degree from Leiden Institute of Chemistry in the group of Prof. Hans Fraaije. At Culgi you will be part of an ambitious, multidisciplinary team. You will be able to make an impact and have an interest in business development. We are looking for somebody who will share our ambition and joy to accelerate the development and growth of Culgi.

How to apply?
- MSc degree in computational science with a relation to biotechnology, chemistry or life science
- Experience in (graphical) software design and/or machine learning is a plus
- Commercial or professional industrial experience is a plus
- Excellent communication and social skills
- Team player with strong organizational skills
- Fluent in written and spoken English
