Department of History and Ethnology is currently seeking to recruit an 

Postdoctoral Researcher in Finnish history, for a fixed-term period from August 15 2019 until December 31 2020.  

Position is directed for a researcher in an early stage of his/her career. The Postdoctoral Researcher is expected to do research in the field of the history of Finland, especially the history of Finnish society.   

Additional merits to be considered include: a doctoral degree in the field of Finnish history, versatile thematic and source-based expertise, merits in the research of long time periods, several epochs of Finnish history, and/or social science history, as well as good language skills in Swedish. 

The duties and qualification requirements for the position of the Postdoctoral Researcher are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations, Rector’s decision on personnel matters and language skills guidelines. The selected person is required to have a full command of Finnish language. When considered appropriate, the university may grant exemption from the language proficiency requirements. In this position, the languages of instruction are Finnish and English. 

The annual salary range will be approximately 38.800 – 55.700 EUR (gross income, including holiday bonus), depending on the qualifications and experience of the candidate. 

Six months trial period is applied to the filling of the position.

  5. Research plan (max. 2-3 pages);
