OFFER DESCRIPTION
A Marie Curie Early Stage Researcher position is available for a period of 3 years, tenable at the University of Oxford; on a project entitled ‘Active Matter: From Fundamental Science to Technological Applications'. Candidates will be registered for PhD training while employed by the University through a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network (ActiveMatter) and will be expected to demonstrate an interest in computational and theoretical physics and a strong aptitude for problem solving. Candidates must possess a good Master's degree in physics or other relevant field, and a willingness to foster strong scientific interactions with other members of the ActiveMatter team.
The ESR will play a pivotal role in the collaboration by studies on the dynamics of dense active matter.
The EC funding for this position provides for a salary starting from £38,242 p.a. The actual salary will depend on employer deductions, personal circumstances and the exchange rate (to be notified by the EC). This amount includes an annual living allowance and a mobility allowance (to cover the expenses associated with working in a different country). The funding will not be affected by Brexit.
Under the terms of the EC funding, which aims to promote mobility within the research community, to be eligible for the post you must not have been resident in the UK for more than a total of 12 months in the past 3 years. Persons who have obtained a doctorate or had more than 4 years full time research experience are ineligible. The start date is subject to discussion; the latest possible date is 1 Oct 2019.
