The Department of Practical Theology has a particular interest in societal developments and its challenges for theology, church, education and politics. In the course of the new model of Teacher Education (Pädagog*innenbildung NEU) it is the task to deepen the cooperation in teaching and research, especially in the field of school and classroom research, with other Viennese departments of Religious Education (Protestant, Muslim, Orthodox) and other subject related didactics. The department is planning to widen the focus of religious education research on other spaces (extracurricular). We especially invite persons with specializations in pre-school and nursery education, geragogics or other special fields.
Your responsibilities include independent research activities with the possibility for a habilitation, as well as the participation in research activities and teaching of the department. The participation in research projects within the focus of the department is demanded; this comprises cooperation with other researchers and institutions, the participation in raising third-party funds, the organization of events and administrative tasks. Independent teaching takes place in the extent of the collective agreement. Tutorial guidance for students is an important aspect for developing a professional habitus in their later professional career.

Active participation in research, teaching and administration. This involves
- Developing and strengthening the independent research profile
- Involvement in research projects / research studies
- International publications and presentations
- Responsibility for project applications and the acquisition of third-party funding
- Preparing / writing a (publication-ready) habilitation thesis
- Independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement
- Supervision of students
- Participation in evaluation measures and quality assurance
