OFFER STARTING DATE01/08/2019
Theoretical research and experimental protocols leading to the submission and publication of scientific articles on misinformation; weekly interactions with RAPID project partners, project progress meetings, organization of scientific events on misinformation, seminar animation, (possibly) student supervision.
The candidate will carry out his post-doc in a RAPID project on disinformation funded by the Directorate General of Armament, and supported by the SME Mondeca in partnership with the Airbus Defense & Space group and the Jean-Nicod Institute (Concepts, Logic and Reasoning team (CoLoR) led by Paul Égré, DR2 CNRS). This multidisciplinary project focuses on the detection of disinformation (civil and military) by combining information engineering, SHS and cognitive science. It aims to develop a tool for detecting disinformation strategies for both civilian and military use, and to experimentally evaluate the tool provided for its exploitation.
In detail, the job of the candidate will consist of:
-Enrich a taxonomy of misinformation already deepened within the CoLoR team of the Jean-Nicod Institute: redefinition of existing cases, search for new cases, comparison with other typologies offered for the notion and other related notions (lie, deception, omission, incitement to error, etc.);
-Formalize the typology of disinformation thus proposed in the context of non-classical logics, in this case static and dynamic epistemic logics;
-Develop experimental protocols online and in person to assess the quality of the typology of misinformation offered to project partners.
The candidate will work at the Jean-Nicod Institute, UMR CNRS / ENS / EHESS, hosted at ENS, as part of the "CoLoR" team led by Paul Égré.
The candidate must be a doctor in philosophy or cognitive science, specialized in analytical epistemology and epistemic logic. He must also possess skills in conversational pragmatics and experimental psychology.
The candidate's expertise must focus on the definition and evaluation of the quality of the information, and on the modalities of its good transmission. In a narrower sense, the candidate must be specialized in the study of informational strategies aimed at explicitly deceiving or skewing information in this sense (misinformation, omission, etc.).
Due to the project's highly applied theme, the candidate must be made aware of the civil and defense issues related to the understanding and mastery of strategic information (definition and typology of false news, quotation of intelligence, etc.).
Knowledge of online experiment software is desired. The practice of French and English, written and oral, is required.
