The Functional Optoelectronic NanoMaterials group at ICFO, led by ICREA Prof. Gerasimos Konstantatos, is launching a research program on the design, synthesis and engineering of nanostructured inorganic and hybrid perovskite materials based on Environmentally Friendly Earth Abundant elements for optoelectronic, energy harvesting and solar cell applications.
The aim of the research is to design develop and optimize novel nanocrystal and thin film semiconductors with optoelectronic properties favourable for light emission, detection and solar cells. These materials can belong to the metal chalcogenide or perovskite class and their properties will be tuned via advanced synthetic and colloidal chemistry techniques with the support of DFT calculations.
To address this challenge, we seek highly motivated, creative and highly skilled researchers to join the multidisciplinary team.

At the moment, we are looking for researchers with strong background on material science or chemistry of materials relevant for solar cell applications. In particular, the incumbent should have demonstrated expertise on the development, synthesis and growth of environmentally friendly, multinary inorganic or hybrid semiconductor compounds (chalcogenides or perovskites), applied in thin-film photovoltaics. Experience in correlating material properties (phase purity, doping, crystallinity, composition, film morphology, interfaces) with device performance will be positively evaluated. Direct or indirect expertise on DFT calculations and theoretical simulations will be considered a plus.
This research program and the associated positions are funded by an ERC Consolidator Grant (Ref. HEINSOL, GA 725165) of the European Union.
Apart from the background and skills required for the positions (please, refer to the project description for details), as a general requirement, candidates must hold an internationally-recognized Ph.D.-equivalent degree (or evidence of its completion in the nearest future) <b>in Material Science, Physics or Electrical Engineering, prior to taking up the position.

The position is available for three years renewable on an annual basis depending on the performance of the incumbent and the progress of the project.
