In line with the centre’s strategy to promote excellence, IMDEA Nanociencia is inviting Expressions of Interest from potential international postdoctoral researchers who are interested in applying for a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Individual Fellowship. These fellowships offer individuals the opportunity to enhance their career development and prospects through advanced training, international and intersectoral mobility. If successful, the fellowship will provide a competitive salary above € 55,000 (before taxes) and an allocation for research and training costs.

IMDEA Nanociencia (IMDEA Nano) is a non-profit foundation created in 2007 by initiative of the Madrid Regional Government in partnership with the former Ministry of Education and Science of the Government of Spain. IMDEA Nano is a multidisciplinary research centre focused on frontier science and technology at the nanoscale with a senior research staff of over 50enabling the hosting of over 50 post-doctoral and 75 pre-doctoral researchers in our international programs in the last 4 years. IMDEA Nano offers an attractive international working environment and the researchers involved in the different programmes are running more than 30 operative research laboratories. This international atmosphere is coupled with strong interdisciplinary research which is organized around 5 programmes: (i) Organic Nanosystems for light harvesting and energy conversion, (ii) Fundamental properties of 2D materials, (iii) Nanomedicine against cancer and infection; (iv) Nanomagnetism and critical raw materials and (v) Solid state Quantum devices for information technologies. Since January 2014 the Institute is based in a custom-designed building located on the UAM-CSIC Cantoblanco Campus of International Excellence, including 44 specific laboratories and the Centre for NanoFabrication with state of the art facilities and world-class equipment. In 2017, the Spanish State Agency of Research awarded IMDEA NANO with the highly-competitive “Severo Ochoa” accreditation (2017-2021) of the scientific leadership and impact at a global level. The institute has a proven experience in managing European projects; a total of 22 EU funded research projects (FP7: 11; H2020: 11) 13 of these as coordinator (5 ERC grants) - an excellent track record for such a young research centre.

Selected candidates will be offered both academic and administrative support with regards to the proposal development.

For this call, we welcome expressions of interest particularly in the following Research Areas:

Nanoarchitectonics on Surfaces (Dr. David Écija)

Molecular Motors (Dr. Francisco J. García Cao)

Nanomedicine (Dr. Álvaro Somoza)
