Offer Description

A call is now open for the attribution of two Research Fellowships for master students hosted by the Lisbon Public Law Research Center (CIDP) research unit financed by the Foundation for the Science and Technology, IP/MCTES through national funds (PIDDAC) (Ref. UIDB/04310/2020). 

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS AND ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS 

The Research Fellowships are aimed at candidates already enrolled or to be enrolled in a Master's Degree and who wish to develop research activities in the area of ​​Digital Public Law: Fundamental Rights, Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, and International Law. 

Admission requirements are: 

  • Degree in Law; 

  • Have a high command of Portuguese and English (writing, reading, and conversation). 

Are eligible for the grant: 

a) National citizens or citizens from other Member States of the European Union; 

b) Citizens of third States; 

c) Stateless persons; 

d) Beneficiaries of the political refugee status. 

 

WORK PLAN 

The work plan is part of the activities of the research project Lisbon Digital Rights and Freedoms" (LDRF), coordinated at CIDP by Professor Domingos Soares Farinho, and includes the following tasks: 

  1. Research on a specific topic of digital public law, chosen in articulation with one of the LDRF, for the preparation of an article to be submitted to an international peer-reviewed journal (the article must be submitted until the end of the fellowship); 

  1. Presentation to the LDRF/CIDP community of the research carried out in the preparation of the article abovementioned; 

  1. Assist LDRF members in the creation of a database on digital public law. 

 

PLACE OF WORK 

The activities will be developed at the Lisbon Public Law Research Center under the supervision of Professor Domingos Soares Farinho. 

 

DURATION 

The duration of the fellowships is 4 (four) months, renewable up to the LDRF project deadline.  

The fellowships are scheduled to start in January 2023.  

 

MONTHLY STIPEND  

The grant amount corresponds to €875,98, according to FCT Research Grant Regulation

Payment of the monthly maintenance allowance is made at the end of each month by bank transfer. 

The performance of functions as a fellowship holder is carried out under exclusive dedication, under Article 5 of the Research Fellowship Holder Statute. 

 

SELECTION METHODS AND CRITERIA 

Candidates are assessed through Curriculum Assessment (60%), Motivation Letter (10%), and Interview (30%). 

The results are expressed on a scale from 0 to 100, and only candidates with a total score above 50% will be admitted to the interview phase. 

The Curriculum Assessment must demonstrate suitability for the work to be performed and will consider the following aspects: 

  • Academic training; 

  • Classification obtained in courses considered relevant for the work to be performed; 

  • Research experience in Digital Public Law: Fundamental Rights, Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, International Law; 

  • Research experience in Law. 

The Motivation Letter must explain the interest in the specific area of the project and the candidate's expectations for academic and personal growth.

PUBLICITY AND COMMUNICATION OF RESULTS  

The evaluation results are communicated via e-mail to the e-mail address used by the candidate in the application and published on the CIDP website ("News" tab) within 90 working days after the application submission deadline. 

Candidates may complain about the draft final ranking list within 10 working days of its publication under the terms of articles 121 et seq. of the Code of Administrative Procedure.

APPLICATION SUBMISSION  

Applications must be submitted in digital format (pdf format) to the e-mail address: cidp-icjp@fd.ulisboa.pt and must be accompanied by the following documents: 

  1. Detailed curriculum Vitae: 
  2. Copy of the identification document and indication of the candidate's residence; 
  3. Motivation letter; 
  4. Certificates of Qualifications, with the final average and grades obtained; 
  5. Other documents considered relevant by the candidates. 

 

No document that should have been submitted in candidacy may be presented after the deadline set for this purpose. 

In the case of academic degrees awarded by foreign higher education institutions, and to ensure the application of the principle of equal treatment to candidates holding foreign and national academic degrees, it is mandatory to recognize these degrees and convert the respective final classification to the Portuguese rating scale. 

Documents proving the ownership of academic degrees and diplomas, or their respective recognition when foreign higher education institutions have awarded them, may be dispensed with during the application stage for the support in question, being replaced by a declaration of honor by the candidate (annex I draft), with the verification of this condition occurring only during the contracting phase. 

In the application stage, it will be sufficient for candidates to prove that they meet the necessary conditions to enroll in study cycles leading to the attainment of an academic degree or in courses that do not lead to a degree. At the stage of contracting the fellowship, it will be necessary to present proof of enrollment.
