The project is focused on the reconstruction of ancient central-eastern Mediterranean landscapes: through the application of Geographic Information System GIS technology, the research will investigate the relationship between urbanism, rural settlement and routes networks, by the use of legacy and new survey data. Selected research areas are: southern Albania (Byllis), southern Crete (Gortys) and south-eastern Turkey. Research fellow must handle traditional and innovative technology for the recording and management of topographic archaeological data; tools for digital data collection and management; digital photogrammetry from UAV and 3D modeling. Through this set of applications, the project will experiment an integrated system for the collection and management of archaeological data in urban, rural and maritime landscapes of the central-eastern Mediterranean region.
