The DIGIMAN4.0 (DIGItal MANufacturing Technologies for Zero-defect Industry 4.0 Production) Project aims, within the framework of the MSCA-ITN-2018 initiative, at the provision of world excellent research training to 15 ESRs (Early Stage Researchers) in the field of digital manufacturing technologies for Industry 4.0.
This research training will focus on three main aspects:
- Innovative technological solutions for high quality, high throughput and high precision production
- Cutting edge multi-disciplinary training in different domains and
- Validation of different digital manufacturing technologies by integration into process chains for the production of advanced components in several sectors.
The global expansion of the manufacturing industry has been a characteristic feature of modern globalization for several years. Due to the complexity in such global production networks, modern technologies for digitization (e.g. artificial intelligence, cloud services, etc.) promise an enormous potential for increasing efficiency and generating competitive advantages through the horizontal integration of networks. The challenge is to harness this potential within the framework of suitable management and planning approaches in the context of Industry 4.0.
The ESR will develop innovative methods for secure, data-based collaboration between partners of the supply chain enabled by industry 4.0 measures together with partners from science and industry. Autonomous negotiation and decision support systems are just as important as transparency and data security.
Expected outcomes of the research training are as follows:
- Platform for horizontal supply chain integration implementing the mechanism and assuring privacy of information
- Negotiation mechanism automatically creating alternative offers, negotiating prices and delivery times with Supply Chain based on real-time information
- Integrated trust mechanism assuring that sensible information remains secret to other partners in the supply chain based on blockchain technologies
The practical relevance of the work is guaranteed by diverse industrial contacts, especially by working closely together with Wittenstein SE. Within the scope of working at the institute, the ESR will participate in a Doctoral programme and will be given the opportunity of receiving a doctoral degree by the Karlsruhe Institute of technology doctorate. Furthermore, the ESR will have the opportunity to spend several weeks abroad, e.g. in the USA and China. We support the ESR’s professional and personal development with excellent support measures.
This full-time post will be available from October 2020 and is offered on a fixed-term 36 month contract. The post benefits from a highly competitive and attractive salary, plus mobility and family allowances as applicable.
At the time of recruitment, the researcher (ESR) must not have resided or carried out his/her main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Germany for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to his/her recruitment under the project. Eligible candidates must be, at the time of the recruitment, in the first four years of their research career and have not been awarded a doctoral degree.
