Conducting high-level research in the field of forest pathology, forest and wood protection, publishing research papers in international peer-reviewed journals indexed in Web of Science database.

Applying and managing scientific and applied research projects. Disseminating and promoting research results in society, incl. in Estonian language.

Participating in the work of academic and professional decision-making bodies and expert-panels.

 

Teaching courses of Forest and wood pathogens, Forest pathology, Wood protection and Mushroom cultivation at bachelor and master level. Supervising bachelor, master and doctoral thesis in forestry and other

biological curriculums.

 

Eligibility criteria

To participate in the competition, candidates are required to submit the following documents to the Academic Secretary (Fr. R. Kreutzwaldi 1, 51006 TARTU) no later than April 2, 2019.

• an application to the Rector;

• CV (curriculum vitae) and a structured list of scientific publications of recent ten years, in the Estonian Research Information System (ETIS) standard format (up to ten significant publications from the earlier periood may be included at will); information on academic work done within five recent years shall be enclosed with the CV;

• a copy of the document certifying education and/or academic degree;

• ohter relevant materials at the discretion of the applicant;

Selection process

For the evaluation of applicants for the position of professor, the director of an institute or college/head on the centre shall appoint an expert committee consisting of at least three members, one of whom must be external to the University, preferably from a country other than Estonia.

The academic committee of the Council of the University shall evaluate the applicants for the position of a professor, rank the candidates in the order of preference and present a written evaluation to the council of the institute/college/centre not later than a week before the elections.

Professors shall be elected by the Council of the University.

Skills/Qualifications

Experience in leading and participating in research- and applied projects, focusing on research in forest pathology. Knowledge in the scientific professional methodology, incl. diagnostics and population genetics of forest pathogens, microbiological research methodology, keeping and managing pure culture collection of forest pathogens, using applied knowledge of forest pathology in forestry, forest nursery and green space management.

Active and successful research, publishing research papers in International peer-reviewed journals indexed in Web of Science database. Active in

international collaboration, in organization of scientific meetings and participation in them. Participation in international networks. Good skills in

professional English and Estonian, in speech and writing.

 

Specific Requirements

PhD or an equivalent degree in forestry.

Estonian language besides english is an advantage.
