The research focuses on the reconstruction of the social and ideological framework of women in the Roman age through the study of a particular category of grave objects found in burials: the tools used in textile manufacturing. The chronological and geographical scope of the research will be the funerary contexts dating from the Romanization (2nd century BC) and the late antiquity (5th century AD) in Northern Italy and next areas, similar in the protohistoric substratum and in the dynamics of Romanization. We will try to answer these questions by exploiting the totality of the data made available by the multidisciplinary analysis of the burials (topographic, stratigraphic, anthropological, burial typology, deposition modalities and composition of the "burial kit", analysis of the fibers and tissues) and comparing them with information on the same tools from residential and votive contexts.
