A study of the "falsae" inscriptions of the Piedmont, between 16th and 18th centuries, with specific attention to the falsifications made by Emanuele Filiberto Pingone (1525-1582) and Samuel Guichenon (1607-1664). The research envisages to: 1) consult the epigraphic corpora concerning regio IX and rexio XI; 2) perform an accurate survey of printed volumes and manuscripts that contain "falsae" inscriptions; 3) reconstruct the tradition of the "falsae" and how such falsifications were produced, that can include (e.g.): a full or partial copy of ancient or modern models, interpolations, imaginary supplements, misinterpreted readings; 4) contextualize the evidence in order to identify the purposes of the falsifications and their impact on the ensuing historiography; 5) record the falsae inscriptions in the online database EDF (Epigraphic Database Falsae).
