Intro: An exciting opportunity has arisen at the University of Novi Sad, Faculty of Technical Sciences, Novi Sad, Serbia, to carry out research relevant to the Horizon2020 MSCA ITN, EU-funded research project entitled “Innovative Network for Training in wAter and Food QUality monitoring using Autonomous SENSors and IntelligEnt Data Gathering and Analysis”, acronym AQUASENSE.

About host institution: University of Novi Sad (UNS) is the second largest university in Serbia with around 5000 employees and 50000 students. The Faculty of Technical Sciences (FTS), University of Novi Sad, Serbia is a vibrant research and educational institution with around 550 researchers and long-lasting experience in international cooperation and international projects. With over 14000 students and 1200 employees, covering the area of over 35500 m2 divided into 9 buildings, the FTS/UNS ranks among the largest and most developed faculties in the region. UNS has been awarded with a prestigious acknowledgement - the Logo of Excellence in the field of improving the work conditions of researchers. UNS has been also awarded the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (2014-2020 – ECHE).

Job specification: Currently the job position is open for one early stage researcher who will be responsible for: development of a wireless sensor networks protocol to acquire data from various multi-sensing nodes, some of which are moving nodes. Artificial intelligence tools should be used to predict the positions of multi-sensing nodes according to recent history, and to address the requirements of low energy consumption. The algorithms developed should enable communication between nodes with minimum energy consumption.

Early stage researcher will enrol PhD study programme in electrical engineering.

Salary: approximately 33.600,00 EUR per annum.

Early stage researcher will receive an additional mobility allowance and, depending on personal circumstances, a family allowance.

Duration: the contract will be signed for 3 years (with possibility of extension if other funds will be available).

Starting date of the engagement (contract): 01/07/2019.

Eligibility requirements. According to the regulations for mobility within the Marie Sklodowska Curie programme, the researcher must not have carried out his/her main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of his/her host organisation (in this case, Serbia) for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to recruitment. The researcher should not have obtained a PhD degree and should not have more than 4 year full-time or equivalent research experience since obtaining the degree which makes them eligible for starting the PhD degree.
