  • degree of Doctor of Earth Sciences (PhD) in Oceanology
  • master's degree in oceanography
  • thorough knowledge of chromatographic methods and measurements based on cold vapor atomic fluorescence spectroscopy
  • documented knowledge of contaminants cycling in marine ecosystems and related risk assessment (with special focus on new emerging pollutants)
  • documented practical knowledge of statistical tools
  • highly developed analytical skills and drawing synthetic conclusions
  • experience in carrying out the research projects
  • experience in presentation of scientific results at national and international conferences and in publishing scientific results in peer reviewed journal with high impact factor
  • experience in performance and managing research cruises
  • experience in sampling for chemical measurements (e.g. sediments, biota, pore waters)
  • good command of Polish and English

Specific Requirements

Description of duties:

The selected candidate will take the position of adjunct at Marine Geotoxicology Laboratory and will be involved in research activities performed by the team through:

- active participation in statutory research of the Institute - task II.2 “Study on the migration of natural and anthropogenic chemical compounds through biogeochemical barriers”

- performing analyses of total mercury concentration and mercury speciation in environmental samples (in the frame of statutory activity and ongoing research projects)

- involvement in the preparation of scientific papers based on the obtained results

- supervising PhD thesis in the subject of assessment of exposure of Baltic organisms to new emerging pollutants (auxiliary supervision)

- preparation of applications for research projects (NCN and similar competitions)

- dissemination of knowledge on the marine environment to students and general public
