The Chair "Societies and Cultures of Memory in Eastern Europe" (Institute of East European History, University of Vienna, Austria) invites applications for a PhD scholarship research position ("Universitätsassistenten", "Prae-Doc"), which are tenable for a fixed period of four years (from 01-08/2013). Required is a Master-degree in East-Central/East-European history, completed with an above-average mark. The successful candidate should preferably working in the field of Eastern European. She or he is particularly interested in the history of Gender Studies. She or he will be ready to complete a doctoral degree program at the University of Vienna.

Participation in research, teaching and administration- Contribution to research projects/scientific studies - Contribution to publications/scientific articles - Contribution to the organisation of conferences, meetings, symposiums - Project application and (external) fundraising- Possibility to write a dissertation - Holding classes due to extent regulations of wage agreement - Examination acitvities – Support of students - Participation in evaluation activities and in quality assurance - Participation in administration of the institute (department)
We expect the successful candidate to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12-18 months.
