ANG-G project. Geolocated digital archive: the Gaignières collection
The Gaignières collection, created in the 17th century by F.-R. de Gaignières (1642-1715), is one of the richest documentary collections ever accumulated on the history of European, medieval and modern families, territories and heritage. Gaignières, anxious to describe a world that could disappear, had the fundamentally innovative idea of carrying out an archival, archaeological, artistic and sociological inventory of France in its European context by copying and recording texts, monuments and landscapes in situ and by compiling thousands of textual and figurative sources for the other places. A website, Collecta, has been dedicated to him. The ANG-G project, supported by the ANR and hosted by the IRHT, offers an "enhanced" geolocation interface that explores, in a multidisciplinary approach, the resources of IT, the semantic web and design, all textual and figurative documents currently held at the Bibliothèque nationale de France and the Oxford Bodléienne.
