MathInParis Doctoral programme will grant 21 PhD projects in mathematics and fundamental computer science,
Call for application is open from December, 15th 2018 to April, 1st 2019

The PhD projects will be supervised and supported by one (or more) researchers and hosted in one of the laboratories of the FSMP network. Fellows will enroll in one of the three Doctoral schools of Paris. The PhD project can also be in partnership with Industry.
A research visit abroad of at least two months will be mandatory and organized also in order to favorise the international visibility of the student.
Laureates of this programme will sign a contract, starting in September 1st 2019 (at the earliest), with one the FSMP universities or institutions.
The international Doctoral Training in Mathematical Sciences in Paris - MathInParis - Cofunded by Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions offers 40 PhD fellowships within the framework of the European Horizon 2020 program "Marie Sklodowska-Curie Co-funding of Regional, National and International Programmes". (Grant Agreement n°754362). The main features of the program is to enhance the potential and future career perspective of young researchers by offering : an extremely attractive place in FSMP network for international brilliant students planning to prepare a PhD in mathematics and fundamental computer science, a strengthened advising and a broadened support for career development.
MathInParis fellows have a contract with one of FSMP Universities and will be employed under the French “Contrat doctoral” terms, as defined by the “Décret du 23 avril 2009-46”. Hence, they will benefit from:
• Social security for the applicants and its accompanying family members (including children, husband/wife/partner if unemployed).
• Maternity and paternity leaves (with potential contract extension on request).
• Unemployment rights.
• Retirement rights.
(Note that all above conditions can change depending on the specific university laws and conditions.)
The participants will receive a financial support for a period of exactly 36 months. They will get a 2710 euros grant as monthly gross salary, including employer cost. After standard deductions, this will amount to a net salary of ~ 1500 € (a typical gross salary after deduction of employer costs is around 1900 €).
All candidates must have a Master degree (or equivalent) at the time of their enrollment and should speak French or English
There is no nationality or age criteria but the applicant must :
* Not have resided or carried ou their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in France for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately before the deadline of the call (April, 1st of 2019).
* At the time of the call deadline (April, 1st 2019), all applicants must be in the first four years (full-time equivalent research experience) of their research career and have not been awarded of a doctoral degree.
April, 1st 2019 (11.59 pm, Paris time) : deadline for the submission of applications. After verifying its eligibility, each application is submitted to the COFUND MathInParis steering committee and the head (or representative) of each Doctoral School.
April, 13th 2018: a short-list of selected candidates will be produced.
Non-selected applicants will receive a notification and pre-selected candidates will be asked to provide further documents (above-mentioned). They will also receive a notifcation to attend an interview in Paris and instruction to prepare their travel and stay. If necessary, travel (ticket in economic class) and/or accomodation expenses will be covered by MathInParis for 3 days. (All expenses must be checked with the program director before booking) This will provide enough time to each applicant o visit their hosting laboratory and to finalise their oral presentation together with their future thesis advisor. Interviews could be arranged by videoconference.
May, 6th 2018 : deadline of the second phase. All pre-selected candidates will have to produce the additional information required.
May, 13th to May, 18th 2018 : Interviews by the COFUND MathInParis scientific committee and visit of the laboratory.
May, 20th 2018 : Final results.
