 A post-doctorate scholarship is available at the Labor Studies, Health and Environment Center of the Science and Technology College at UNESP (CETAS/UNESP), in Presidente Prudente Campus, São Paulo State, Brazil.

The vacancy is attached to the Themed Project “Sugarcane Agro-Hydro-Business Mapping and Territorial Analysis at Pontal do Paranapanema-São Paulo-Brazil: Labor Relations, conflicts and ways of land and water usage, and the Environmental Health” (Procedure São Paulo Research Foundation-FAPESP n. 2012/23.959-9), whose general objective it is to develop a critical approach over agro-energy and agro-fuel matters, giving special attention to the expansion and consolidation of the sugarcane agro-industry funds and its impact on water and land usage, and the worker’s health at the Polygon Agro-Hydro-Business context.

The Post-Doctorate Project in which the scholarship owner will be attached to aims, specifically, to resume proposed actions over the work field of the Themed Project, as the deepening on the qualitative analysis from the performed interviews made by the teams, the field work achievement and new deep interviews with key-subjects identified at the proposal analysis.

Skills and Experiences Required

(a) To have defended A Geography Doctorate Thesis, focused on Agrarian Geography;
(b) To have experience with qualitative research methodologies, including treatment, analysis and information storage;
(c) To have experience with data base handling;
(d) To hold publishing material on the PhD project area, preferably focused on the work themes, mobility, youth and countryside social movements, over the past 5 years;
(e) To be able to work in group, to be available to contribute with the research group collective activities and, specially, with the present Themed Project.

This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationalities. The selected candidate will receive a FAPESP’s Post-Doctoral fellowship in the amount of BRL 7.373,10 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 15% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent in items directly related to the research activity.
