The PhD program is intended to train excellence figures in the fields of research,public administration and both cultural and social enterprise,through an educational paths in the following sectors:philosophy and history of philosophy,philology,paleography and Antiquity literature,ancient history and archeology,history of science,and politico-social history.All these different areas converge on a common theme,that of the Mediterranean as a place of clashing and meeting cultures,where cultural,philosophical,scientific,literary,religious and political traditions dialogue with each other.The focal points is the connection between identity,alterity and difference.It will be studied under the perspective of the relation between the ancient tradition and our own time and between historical memory and crisis in the contemporary world;in the dialectics between scientific reasoning and poetic invention;in the relationship between popular culture and intellectual elite,local settings and global
