OFFER DESCRIPTION

A 3-year PhD position is available at the synthetic organic chemistry group at the Nordic Consortium for Carbon Dioxide Conversion (NordCO2) located at the Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center (iNANO), Aarhus University. The overall aim of the project is to develop new catalytic protocols for the creation of carbon–carbon bonds with carbon dioxide as the reagent, possibly also using electrochemistry. The method could be used for carbon isotope-labeling including, carbon-11, carbon-13 and carbon-14 of relevant bioactive molecules.

The position is funded from approx. the 1st of August 2017.

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in organic chemistry or related field.
  • Expertise/experience in transition metal catalysis.
  • Expertise/experience in handling air-sensitive compounds (Glovebox or Schlenk)
  • Expertise/experience in general organic synthesis.

Furthermore, applicants are expected to:

  • Have strong corporation and communication skills.
  • Have good command of the English language, both spoken and written.
  • Be independent, capable of taking responsibility of the projects and working in a large team.

 

The place of work will be at the Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center, Aarhus University.

 

Deadline for application is the 22nd of April. The chosen candidate will then make a formal application for admission into the PhD program of the Faculty of Science and Technology at Aarhus University with a deadline of the 1st of May.
