The Executive Board of INESC-ID – Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas e Computadores INESC-ID approved an international selection call for 1 (one) uncertain-term work contracts in the scope of Accelerat.AI candidatura C644865762-00000008 funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP) and Next Generation EU European Funds, under the following conditions:
- CONTRACTUAL POSITION | TASKS
The Accelerat.ai project aims to improve and optimize customer support services across the Portuguese and European markets based on the development of a unique set of technological solutions that pair virtual assistants with contact centers in European Portuguese.
INESC-ID’s role in Accelerat.ai consists in developing fundamental research that can promote a faster deployment of new languages, more engaging and successful agents, as well as better acceptance by specific population groups. Some of the specific research topics addressed in the project include: robustness to domains and fast domain adaptation; self-supervised pre-training methods; and automatic speech and text analytics.
INESC-ID looks for 1 (one) candidate with experience in the aforementioned (or closely related) topics to be part of the INESC-ID Accelerat.ai team.

Starting in January, 2025.
Maximum period set for this type of contract – 4 years.

- MONTHLY AMMOUNT | WORKPLACE
The Employee is entitled, prior to any deductions or withholdings, to a monthly pay of 1861,25€ (One thousand eight hundred and sixty-one euros and twenty-five cents), working in an exclusive dedication basis, and a meal allowance per work day of 6€ (Six euros)
The monthly pay, meal allowance, vacation and Christmas shall be paid by bank transfer.
The workplace shall be at INESC ID Headquarters Rua Alves Redol, 9, 1000-029 Lisboa or at any other facilities namely in INESC-ID Energia IST - Departamento de Engenharia Electrotécnica e de Computadores, Área de Energia, Av. Rovisco Pais 1049-001 Lisboa or in INESC-ID - Taguspark Avenida Professor Cavaco Silva, Edifício IST 2744-016 Porto Salvo, in accordance with the requirements and needs of the project.
- SUPERVISION
Professor David Manuel Martins de Matos, Associate Professor at Instituto Superior Tecnico (IST) and researcher at INESC-ID.
The employee will be integrated in the INESC-ID team.
- ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS - Required education Level and research experience
The candidates should have an MSC degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Data Science or related areas, with strong background in research skills.
Required language skills: proficiency in English both written and spoken.
General call admission requirements include those specified in the previous point and that, from the candidate’s curriculum vitae, one may validate the compliance with productivity criteria such as:

- EVALUATION CRITERIA AND AVALIATION COMMITEE
The selection will be based on the following criteria:
1. Academic record of the candidate (35%)
2. Publications (30%)
3. Research Experience (35%)
If an interview is conducted, the classification proposed by each member of the jury is obtained by assigning a weighting factor of 80% to the curriculum vitae and other documentation presented, and a weighting factor of 20% to the interview
Candidates with an average score below 70, are not recommended for hiring.
In case of degrees awarded by a foreign higher education institution, the degree must comply with the provisions of Decree-Law no. 66/2018 of 16th of August, (https://www.dges.gov.pt/en/pagina/degree-and-diploma-recognition) and all formalities established therein must be fulfilled, by the selected candidate, until the date of signature of the contract.

Each member of the jury assigns a classification to each of the candidates on a scale of 0 to 100 points, ranking the candidates according to their classification consisting on the sum of the partial classifications assigned in each evaluation criterion, and considering the weighting factor given to each parameter. In this process abstentions are not allowed.
Candidates shall be ordered by applying the successive voting method.
The jury has the faculty not to select a candidate in case the requirements mentioned above mentioned are not fulfilled.
Minutes of the jury meeting are drawn up, which contain a summary of what has taken place in the meeting, as well as the votes cast by each of the members and their reasons, being available to the candidates whenever requested.
The final deliberation of the jury is approved by the President of INESC-ID, and it is his responsibility to establish the respective contract.
- APPLICATION | SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS
The application and supporting documents must be submitted to the electronic address contractos@inesc-id.pt, with the documents stated bellow:
- detailed curriculum vitae
- motivation letter
- single copy of official academic degree certificate required in education level *
- detailed list of grades.
The application email should clearly state the reference on the subject 2024.028.CTTRI and all documents must be presented in pdf form.
The candidates must indicate his / her consent so that the communications and notifications in the context of this hiring procedure can take place to the electronic address contractos@inesc-id.pt.
The application and documents may be submitted in Portuguese or English, although the President of the Jury, and when a member of the Jury is a non-native Portuguese speaker, may request that, within a reasonable time, the candidate translates into English a document previously presented in Portuguese.
In the application submission, the candidates may replace the copy of official academic degree certificate, by a declaration of honour stating that they have the required academic degree. It is mandatory for the approval and start date of the contract, that the selected candidate present a single copy of the official academic degree certificate, required in the education level.
This call is open from November26 to December 10 of 2024.
- COMPLAIN AND APPEAL DEADLINES AND PROCEDURES
Candidates who formalize their application incorrectly or who do not prove the requirements required in this notice are excluded from admission. In case of doubt, the jury may demand any candidate to present documents proving those statements.
The false statements made by the candidates will be punished according to the law.
The admitted and excluded candidates will be notified by email of the final ranking list.
Prior Hearing and Deadline for Final Decision: After being notified, candidates have 10 working days to submit a formal rebuttal. Within the term of 30 days, counted from the deadline for the presentation of the candidacies, the final decisions of the jury are given.
This call is exclusively intended to fill the vacancy (s) indicated and may be terminated until the homologation of the final ranking list of candidates and expiring with the respective occupation of the working position on offer.
