The Aerosol Physics and Environmental Physics (AUP) Group of the Faculty of Physics at the University of Vienna conducts high level research on a number of different areas of aerosol science. The group is dedicated to front-edge research and aims at contributing excellent scientific results to the community, developing ideas, innovations and solutions in order to promote a general understanding of physical problems related to aerosols from nanoscale to microscale and from clusters to climate change. We are looking for a motivated prae-doc assistant to extend our team. The overall aim of this position is to determine the complex refractive index of single aerosol particles in complex aerosol mixtures. This includes the characterization and further development of a novel instrument for vertically‐resolved measurements of complex refractive index and size of single aerosol particles, the analysis of data from the A-LIFE field experiment, and the collection and analysis of new data.

- Characterization and further development of a novel instrument for vertically-resolved measurements of complex refractive index and size of single aerosol particles,
- Development of software for data analysis,
- Analysis and interpretation of data from the A-LIFE field experiment (www.a-life.at),
- Support for the preparation of the instruments for aircraft measurements - Support for the preparation of airworthiness certification documents for aircraft measurements,
- Collection and analysis of new data including participation in ground-based and airborne field experiments
- Publication and presentation of scientific results in peer-reviewed journals and at international conferences and workshops,
- Participation in research, teaching and administration,
- Particpation in teaching and independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement
