National Research and Design Institute for Cryogenic and Isotope Technologies (ICSI) in Rm. Valcea, Romania is seeking for motivated experienced researchers with strong background in the field of materials science for energy production and storage applications.
At ICSI Rm. Valcea, making use of dedicated assembling and testing lines, we have the possibility to undertake and explore new challenges and ideas in the field of innovative products for early market in the energy production and storage area, such as Li-ion batteries, PEM fuel cells and water electrolysis. At the moment, there are several undergoing projects that involve fabrication and characterization of nano-structured materials with enhanced catalytic activity towards hydrogen production and storage in the form of electrodes for water splitting in alkaline media, rechargeable batteries and super-capacitive cells.
The successful candidates would have the possibility to elaborate platinum-free catalysts by various chemical and physical means and characterize their morphological and structural properties, involving dedicated methods and techniques. Various electrodes may be tested in electrochemical cells and/or in the form of polymer electrolyte membranes (PEM) under specific thermodynamic conditions.
We are looking for two experienced researchers (physicists) in the field of materials science with deep insight into fabrication and characterization of platinum-free catalysts for hydrogen production and storage purposes, by using the scientific infrastructure and equipments available on site.
The candidates should hold a PhD degree in physics, preferably in the field of materials science, applied physics, catalysis or a related field. He/she should demonstrate valuable track record of scientific peer-review publications in the field as well as hands-on experience in fabrication methods and characterization techniques. Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English language is mandatory.
