TIN-ACT will train 15 future scientists via interdisciplinary and intersectoral training to bridge fundamental, clinical and applied research in animal models and patients to dramatically improve our ability to understand, assess and treat tinnitus.

• TIN-ACT research projects investigate the

  1. Neural mechanisms of tinnitus.
  2. Development of new and improved tools for the assessment of tinnitus.
  3. Effectiveness of new treatmnts for tinnitus.

TIN-ACT is a collaboration between 5 leading European universities, 3 companies and 7 partner organiza6ons who together contribute to the intersectoral and international training of PhD students.

The position is salaried  for students who wish to undertake a doctoral degree (Charité  Dr. rer. med.). The post is for a fixed term of three years.

  • TIN-ACT project ESR11: Stress-induced changes in the animal auditory system.

The successful candidate will collect data regarding the project, will be reponsible for the management of research activities; development of scientific techniques and experimental protocols; use of specialist scientific equipment; contribution of research ideas; testing hypotheses and analysis of data; collaboration on all aspects of research, including preparation of scientific reports, journal articles and presentation of papers and posters.

Applicants should possess, or be very close to obtaining, a Master's degree in  Biology, Neuroscience, Physiology, Neuroendocrinology,  or other relevant science.

Experience in experimental psychology would be an advantage.

The applicants should demonstrate interpersonal skills and be highly proficient in both spoken and written English (Common European Framework C1), as well as have the ability to manage own academic research and to contribute ideas for new research projects.

When recruited, the candidate must be in the first 4 years (FTE) of their research careers, not have been resident in the German Federal Republic for more than 12 months in the previous 3 years, and not have been awarded a doctorate.
