Our research group focuses on scanning probe sensing using color centers in diamond. Using these novel atom-sized nano-sensors, we aim to establish highly-sensitive, high-resolution magnetic sensing. Within this network you will work with our state of the art equipment for single color center observation and coherent single spin manipulation. The PhD project especially focuses on realizing optimal control approaches to single spin manipulation and sensing in the context of scanning probe imaging with color centers. It thus adresses parts of the theory of optimal control as well as its application to single color centers in scanning probes structures (nanowires).

Eligibility criteria

All candidates must fulfill the mobility rule: researchers must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Germany for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately before the recruitment date.
