Call for one Unfixed-Term Contract as Technician at IPO Porto
PI187-CI-IPOP-17-2023-EU4H-TOGAS_Technician
The Administration Board of the Instituto Português de Oncologia do Porto Francisco Gentil, EPE (IPO Porto) opens a call for hiring one (1) technician with a master’s degree, according to the Applicable Regulation, under unfixed-term contract for up to 18 months or until the termination of the project to support the collection, processing and analysis of biological samples, as well as maintaining up-to-date databases within the scope of the “TOGAS – Towards Gastric Cancer Screening and Implementation in the European Union” (grant number, 101101252) under development at the Precancerous Lesions and Early Cancer Management (PreCAM) Group at the Centro de Investigação, hosted at IPO Porto.
- Profile of the candidate:
Any national, foreign, and stateless candidate(s) that hold the following requirements can apply:
Obligatory:
- MSc in Biomedical Sciences, Biology, Biochemistry, or related areas up to 5 years
- At least 24 months of R&D activities, nested in a Gastroenterology Department hosted in a leading Oncology Center, in articulation with the clinical team and interaction with patients
- Skilled in collecting and/or processing liquid biopsies from saliva, blood to faeces
- To have published at least one scientific article as first author in Q1 international journal
- Have integrated the team of translational project in the field of gastric cancer early detection
Preferential:
- Proficiency in using Excel and other software for biological, molecular and clinical data entry and management
- Experience in maintaining detailed laboratory records and inventory
- To have excellent command of English and scientific writing
- Participation in scientific dissemination and communication activities.
Note: In the event the MSc degree was awarded by a foreigner higher education institution, the degree must comply with the provisions of Decree-Law nr 66/2018, of 18th August, and all formalities established there must be fulfilled by applications deadline.
2.Regulation:
- Portuguese Labor Law, approved by Law nr 7/2009, of 12th February in its current writing.

4. Start Date and workplace:
The contract is expected to start 19th of August 2024 and for (18) eighteen months or until the termination of the project. The activities will be developed at the PreCAM Group at IPO-Porto.
5.Monthly remuneration:
Gross monthly remuneration is 1385.35€.
6.Application process:

7.Evaluation criteria:
The admitted applications will be evaluated by assessing the academic and scientific curricula, the motivation and suitability of acquired training within the scope of the desired profile:
Criterion A – Curriculum evaluation, with a weight of 65%:
Sub-criterion A1 – Previous experience in accordance with the defined profile (40%)
Sub-criterion A2 – Publications and participation in communication and dissemination activities (25%)
Criterion B - Motivation letter, with a weigh of 35%:
Sub-criterion B1 - Ability to demonstrate the suitability of the previous acquired training and skills to the described position (20%)
Sub-criterion B2 – Motivation and availability to start the position on the indicated date (10%)
Sub-criterion B3 - Fluency in English (5%)
Candidates will be ranked according to the weighted average of the classification obtained in each sub-criterion according to the following formula:
(40% x A1) + (25% x A2) + (20% x B1) + (10% x B2) + (5% x B3)
After the evaluation of all admitted applications, the jury will write a meeting minute with all process of recruitment, evaluation, and selection, including an ordered list of approved candidates and the final decision of the jury. The final decision of the jury shall be validated by the Head of the Institution, who is also in charge of deciding about the hiring.
8.Results:
All candidates will be notified by email. Both admitted and excluded candidates list will be sent by email to all candidates
9.Preliminary hearing and final decision deadline:
Pursuant to article 121 of the Administrative Procedure Code, after notified, all candidates have 10 working days to respond. Panel’s final decisions are pronounced within a period of 90 days, from application deadline.
