The Water and Health Laboratory in the Cyprus International Institute for Environmental and Public Health, part of the Cyprus University of Technology invites applicants for a postdoctoral fellowship. The postdoctoral fellow opportunity entails the development and application of new human biomonitoring protocols, metabolomics tools and applications, and biomarker development for chronic diseases. The focus will be solely on population health datasets from various EU cohorts. Applicants with a strong research background in (bio)analytical chemistry, or life sciences, or bioinformatics are eligible to apply.

Please send your CV and a description of your research interests to konstantinos.makris@cut.ac.cy

Benefits

The Water and Health Lab team’s ultimate goal is to characterize and reduce health risks associated with chronic exposures to environmental and/or occupational chemicals with emphasis on the implementation of state-of-the-art human biomonitoring and metabolomics technologies that refine the exposure assessment in population health studies. The transition focus from disease to exposure through implementation of the exposome concept is warranted to reduce exposures that lead to disease.

Our laboratory is equipped with advanced mass spectrometers to conduct specialized analyses in human biospecimen and it is located in the old town of Limassol, just minutes away from the cosmopolitan Mediterranean seafront. The Cyprus University of Technology has been ranked #1 along with the University of Crete among all Cypriot and Greek universities in the most recent Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2017-18.
