Post Title: Research Fellow/Etch Process Development Engineer

Salary: Appointment will be made on the appropriate point of the IUA Post-Doctorate Researcher Level 1 or 2 salary scale in line with government pay policy [€34,000 to €40,000 per annum], appointment will be made no higher than point [2.5].*

The Polymer Research Group, led by Dr Parvaneh Mokarian, is looking for a highly motivated Research Fellow/Process Development Engineer with significant practical experience in dry etch process for development and fabrication of micro/nanostructured surfaces to achieve functionalities such as antireflection and self-cleaning. Applicants with industrial background and experience are strongly encouraged to apply. The post is available from 1st September 2017 (or as soon thereafter as possible) for 2 years.
A PhD in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry/ or a significant industrial experience as an etch engineer
Knowledge & Experience (Essential & Desirable)
- A strong publication record in internationally peer-reviewed journals commensurate with the stage of career. Applicants with industrial background who may not have publication record are also strongly encouraged to apply.
- Experience of working with collaborators (Essential).
- Experience in the training and supervision of junior researchers.
- Practical experience and proven ability in: Developing new recipes for ICP Plasma Etched (dry etch) nanomaterials, experienced in using and maintenance of ICP etch equipment, facilitating technical exchanges with team members, being familiar with wet etch process, being familiar with laser patterning (desirable). Familiarity with imaging techniques such as scanning electron microscopy is desirable, but not essential.
