Senior lecturer in Equine Internal Medicine
The University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna invites applications for a three year (October 2017 – August 2020) full-time position in Equine Internal Medicine at a lecturer or senior lecturer level. Applicants will ideally hold an ECEIM or ACVIM LA Diploma but full consideration will also be given to applicants that have completed an ECEIM or ACVIM LA residency programme. The successful candidate will work in a team of academic equine clinicians to provide high quality teaching, patient care and research. Primary job responsibilities will be participation in the clinical equine internal medicine service including shared emergency duty and delivery of small group clinical instruction. The successful candidate will provide didactic and clinical instruction in equine internal medicine for veterinary students, interns and residents. The successful candidate will be committed to maintaining a high quality equine clinical service, building caseload and providing excellent communication to the clinic’s clients.
The hospital is equipped with two modern operating theatres, facilities for standing surgery, an isolation unit, video-endoscopy, ultrasonography, high-speed treadmill endoscopy, scintigraphy, CT and MRI. The hospital provides an established referral service to a diverse case load.
The appointment percentage of clinical, teaching, and research components is negotiable depending on the professional goals of the candidate and the needs of the department.
Prerequisites: Diplomate ECEIM/ACVIM or ECEIM/ACVIM board eligible, Experience in teaching veterinary students, English fluently written and spoken, Excellent communication skills, Ability to work in a team, German language skills – willingness to become rapidly fluent in German is mandatory.
