Devro plc in collaboration with The Department of Archaeology at York is
looking for a skilled and highly motivated Early Stage Researcher (PhD
candidate) working on the European Commission-funded, Marie Skłodowska-Curie
actions) project TEMPERA: Teaching Emerging Methods in Paleoproteomics for the
European Research Area. Other partner institutes are: the Natural History
Museum of Denmark, Lille University of Science and Technology, the University
of Naples Federico II, the Max Planck Institute.
As part of this project Devro is offering a fully-funded 3 year PhD
position, under the topic “The Decline of Parchment Use (Ref ESR 3); to be
completed within Archaeological Science at the University of York whilst
employed by Devro plc. This vacancy offers a 3 year, fully-funded PhD award.
You will be supervised by Professor Matthew Collins (University of York/Natural
History Museum, Denmark) and Dr Gordon Paul (Devro plc).
To be eligible to apply for this role you must, at 1 October 2017, be in the first four years (full-time equivalent research experience) of your research career and have not been awarded a doctoral degree.
Mobility Rule: on 1 October 2017 you must not have resided or carried out your main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the UK for more than 12 months in the preceding 3 years. Compulsory national service and/or short stays such as holidays are not taken into account.
