PhD position (36 months) on the theory of optomechanics in ultracold matter. at Saarland University under the supervision of Prof. Giovanna Morigi. The project addresses theoretically the coupling between spin and
motional degrees of freedom in cavities and the resulting correlations.
It aims at developing a systematic description of the coupled dynamics
between the spin and the motion of thermal and ultracold atoms inside of
resonators, for the purpose of characterizing the stationary phases and
the dynamics induced by long-range optomechanical interactions and to
explore perspectives for quantum memories. The position is funded by the Innovative Training Network "ColOpt". See https://euraxess.ec.europa.eu/jobs/166764 for details. Applications shall be sent to the PI and shall include a cover letter, CV and the names of at least two referees.

Benefits

The successful candidate will be a full time employee and will be
paid minimum in accordance with the MSCA rules. The contract period will
be for 36 months.

Eligibility criteria

As the project is funded within the Marie Skłodowska Curie Actions
(MSCA), researchers can be of any nationality but need to demonstrate
transnational mobility, i.e. move from one country to another when
taking up their appointment. At the time of recruitment by the host
organisation, researchers must not have resided or carried out their
main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of their host
organisation for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately before
the reference date. Compulsory national service and/or short stays such
as holidays are not taken into account. In addition, the researcher must
be in the first four years (full-time equivalent research experience)
of their research careers and have not been awarded a doctoral degree.
This time is measured from the date when the researcher obtained the
degree entitling him/her to embark on a doctorate, either in the country
in which the degree was obtained or in the country in which the
researcher is recruited.

Selection process

Applications are made to the individual node via email.

The material required are a CV and 1-page cover letter (including names and
contact details of at least two references) and a copy of your MSc degree certificate and transcript. If an applicant
wants to be considered across the network, please mention that in your application so that the
information can be shared across the network.
