Offer Description

In your project, you are expected to design, execute, analyze and report different qualitative and quantitative studies that will ultimately result in a dissertation. For instance, you will conduct group model building sessions to get a better understanding of the experienced facilitators and barriers to adopt novel crop technology with a range of stakeholders in society (e.g., food crop industry, farmers, retailers and out-of-home sector). Also, you will identify factors that influence public’s willingness to consume fruits and vegetables treated with the novel crop protection technology. This will be done in an international comparative survey in order to address cross-cultural differences in food technology acceptance. Finally, experimental studies will test the impact of different communication and marketing strategies on attitudes towards crop protection technology.

The PhD project is part of a large NWO funded project (KIC Microbiome) that will be led by Wageningen University and Research, and executed by an interdisciplinary team of researchers at WUR, Leiden University, University Medical Center Groningen, ETH Zurich, and Tilburg University in collaboration of a number of industry partners. In the overall project multiple PhDs and postdocs will be appointed at the involved institutes and the team represents diverse disciplines (e.g., biology, chemistry, medicine, and psychology). You are expected to actively contribute to the overall project and consortium.
