OFFER DESCRIPTION

You hold an (R)MA or MPhil in historical geography, landscape studies or a related field, and preferably have experience with research of wetland environments in Northwest Europe. You are able to inventory and assess different types of historical geographical data, but also to look beyond that and place your data in wider theoretical and interpretive frameworks. You have experience with fieldwork and are interested in the development of new frameworks for cultural heritage management, as well as in looking beyond the boundaries of your own discipline. You are proficient in English and preferably have (at least) a reading knowledge of Dutch. You have excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently alone as well as in a team. You will write manuscripts for publication in international peer-reviewed journals, which will constitute the main part of your PhD thesis.

Applications should include:

  • a motivation letter, stating why you want to do this research and how you fit the requirements (no more than one page);
  • a full academic CV;
  • a list of grades obtained for your Bachelor and Master (or equivalent) programs;
  • a writing sample, e.g. a published paper or a chapter from your MA thesis.
